Born in 1957 in Pretoria, Ivan Vladislavic currently resides in Johannesburg. He is the author of novels such as "The Restless Supermarket", "The Exploded View", and "Double Negative", as well as story collections "101 Detectives" and "Flashback Hotel". He compiled his writings on Johannesburg in the 2006 book "Portrait with Keys". Vladislavic has edited various books on architecture and art and continues to collaborate occasionally with artists and photographers. His joint project with photographer David Goldblatt, "TJ/Double Negative", won the 2011 Kraszna-Krausz award for the best photography book. His works have also won the Sunday Times Fiction Prize, the Alan Paton Award, the University of Johannesburg Award, and the Yale University Windham-Campbell Fiction Prize. He continues his work as a professor in the Creative Writing Department at Wits University.
